As soon as I entered the room, P1: welcome, Rajat.
M: Good Morning, Sirs. Thank You.
P2 took my certificates and asked for an introduction.
Mid-way through my intro, he stopped me and asked about the incomplete grade in my Major Project. I told them that the grades would be released in the month of March. Initially, P2 refused to believe me. He thought I had failed in my project He said that this does not happen in any government college. Suddenly, he realized the “International” in IIIT. Then both of them had some fun with college names.
P1: OOOHHHH!!! It is International, not Indian. It is in a much higher league.
P2: Is it a private college?
M: Sir, IIIT-H is a deemed university.
(Both start smiling)
P1: Even Indira Institute of Technology is called IIT…smiles again. Even, I joined in.
P2 told me to continue with the intro.
I mentioned about maths being my favourite subject. So, was stopped again by P2 who gave me a sheet of paper to write on.
P2: Ok, so let us ask some geometry.
M: Yes, Sir (smiling)
P2: Write down an equation.
M: (puzzled) Sir, which equation?? a linear equation?
P2: No, linear equations is arithmetic. Write some geometrical equation. Write down the area of a triangle.
M: (done) 1/2 bh, 1/2 bc.sinA and Hero’s Formula.
P2: Can I differentiate the area?
M: Yes, Sir. If one or more things are changing, we can differentiate wrt a changing variable.
P2(As if totally uninterested): Differentiate that something 1/2bc….u have written.
M: Sir, If all sides are constant, then the result would be 0. Suppose, A varies, then we’ll get 1/2bc.cosA.
P1: What is the significance of differentiation?
M: (talked about the slope and how a quantity varies with respect to the changing variable….both P1 and P2 not interested).
P1: Define Pythagoras theorem.
M: (Done)
P1: What is the Archimedes Theorem?
M: (Oops! I could no completely recollect) Sir! I don’t exactly remember but it has to with the property of water.
P1: You must have heard of Eureka Forbes.
M: Yes Sir, Archimedes in his bath tub discovered the phenomenon and said Eureka meaning, I found it.
P2: We are not talking about the incident. It is a very famous principle.
M: Yes Sir, but I do not completely remember the theorem
P1: Ok, no problem. Name some famous business personalities from India.
M: Mr. Anil Ambani, Mr. Mukesh Ambani……The Dhirubhai Group. Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal from Bharti Airtel.
P1: Fine, tell us someone who is very famous among common people.
M: Sir, Mr Azim Premji from Wipro.
P1: Ok, so who is the best recruiter in India?
M: Sir, Infosys.
Meanwhile, P2 had almost finished looking at the certificates. With a wicked smile on his face, he told P1 about my grad subject – ECE. Here comes the pain.
P1: So, shall we talk about Electronics then?
M: Sir, I concentrated more on communications right from the beginnning. I haven’t done much work in Electronics.
P2: Ok, so which branch in Communications?
M: Sir, Telecommunications. I did my internship at Ericsson India Pvt Ltd.
P2: We are not talking about that. Be more precise…Telecommunications, Mobile communications.
M: Sir, Mobile Communications
P1: (asked a question about the encryption and decryption of an SMS)
M: (initially struggled a bit, but later explained it properly…both looked convinced)
P1: What is a NOR Gate?
M: (Described)
P1: What is a window?
M: Don’t have any idea, sir?
P1: You don’t know about a window!!!! What was used before gates came into picture, you don’t know that?
M: Sir, I don’t remember.
P2: Did you not prepare for the interview?
M: Sir, I did. But, I concentrated more on my strong points and my areas of interest. I am not too comfortable with electronics.
P2: (out of nowhere) When you are not able to answer your strengths properly, how can you do MBA.(more of a rhetorical question)
M: (smile)
P2: Do you have any questions for us?
M: Thank You, sir, nothing in particular.
Both: Ok, then. All the best.
M: Thank You, sir

Do not know what to conclude from this. I have my fingers crossed.

Hindu College is one of the most venerated institutions of North Campus, Delhi University.Thus, after a pretty disappointing performance in JEE(AIR 5516 ), i was geared up to spend some of the most memorable days of my life in Hindu.
As soon as i entered the premises of the college, i knew it was going to be a special place. The first thought which struck my mind….”This is gonna be real fun….loadza chicks….n real hot ones too. ” All fachchaas had to report to the auditorium for the orientation programme. I was late by about an hour(i didn’t want to listen to that crap anyways) but surprisingly, all the seats were occupied. A few students(standing outside)were making their best possible attempts to capture every glimpse of the drama being conducted inside the auditorium. I was in no mood to do the same and was quite desperately waiting for that stultifying exhibition to terminate. Suddenly, the girl standing right infront of me turned around….”Hey, do u wanna come forward….there’s plenty of space here” were her first few words. Although it was a pretty customary statement, the gullible, childlike look on her face was all that made the difference. “Thank You” i replied as i quietly moved to stand alongside her. To be honest, i believe she was waiting for me to instigate. However, i stood there without uttering a single word…….pretty much reminiscent of my introspective nature. At this point, i believe she was running out of patience. “So, which branch????”, she finally spoke after an interval of two minutes. This is what kickstarted a series of routine questions (name, school….etc.) . Although it would be more than pleasurable to describe the physical features of the lady, i will choose not to commit a sin by stating the obvious. She was a typical SPRINGDALIAN(student of Springdales School). For people who are not much familiar with Delhi, Springdales School is one of the many schools in Delhi. However, it is very famous among guys for reasons which i expect every reader to know by now. So there i was, on my first day to college; with a girl who was a stranger to me not so long ago but who had become much more than a mere acquaintance within a span of 30 minutes.

We carried on our conversation for some more time until the show was over. All students were required to report to their respective HODs. We bid each other goodbye with a hope that there is more to come…..the journey which has started in such a peculiar fashion cannot terminate without a cause…..the dream i had last night was not all that worthless after all……Ladies And Gentlemen !!!!
